An Education Rooted in Excellence and Care

Dr. Hostetter earned her medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine and then completed her Anesthesiology residency at the Virginia Mason Medical Center. During her studies, she specialized in orthopedic and spinal surgery with additional expertise in regional anesthesia. Her focus has always been on helping patients reduce pain and improve their quality of life as they recover from surgery.  After finishing her residency, she was awarded the Moore-Bridenbaugh Regional Anesthesia Research Fellowship to further develop her skills in non-surgical pain management. While there, she trained other anesthesia residents and continued her research into alternative treatment methods for acute pain in the back, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles.

Bringing Innovative Regenerative Medicine to Patients

Following her fellowship, Dr. Hostetter joined a private practice at the Swedish Medical Center. There, she initiated a groundbreaking adductor canal nerve block program for pain management, transforming postoperative care following total knee surgery. Because of her innovative program, patients experienced shorter hospital stays, decreased opioid use for pain management, and improved pain scores during recovery.

To build on the success of this program, Dr. Hostetter established the first regional anesthesia nerve block program for orthopedics and podiatry at St. Francis Hospital in 2014. There, she also funded the multimodal pain program for patients with joint and spine conditions, once again improving postoperative pain outcomes and helping patients recover faster.
